Outstanding Electricity bill revenue realization drive

ITANAGAR, Nov 29: Executive Engineer (E), Capital Electrical Division TK Tara, highlighting the huge outstanding electricity bills due from various government departments and other consumers, said that the department has served individual notice to all the defaulters for early payment of the due bills. But despite our efforts many of them failed to clear their dues. Therefore, the department decided to launch effective step in order to realize the huge government revenue lying pending with them.

He further said that, the Department of power, office of the executive engineer (E), capital electrical division, Itanagar is carrying out special revenue realization drive in the entire Itanagar Township from December 7, which includes Lingalaya Mandir, Holongi, Balijan, Taraso, Tarajuli, Poma, Jote, Bassarnalo and adjoining areas.

The drive include, spot collection of liabilities, disconnection of service lines of all the defaulting consumers and confiscation of the service materials of the illegal connections including imposition of legal and financial penalties as applicable.

Meanwhile, it appealed all the consumers to pay their pending electricity bills if any, immediately.

Tagar lauds FGA activities

ITANAGAR, Nov 29: MLA, 18-Palin Assembly Constituency Takam Tagar visited his home constituency from November 24-26 last.

During his visit he urged people to work sincerely and co-operate him for the development of the constituency during his five years tenure as an MLA.

Tagar inaugurated one month entrepreneurship training Programme at community health and learning centre at Palin, organized by Future Generation of Arunachal Palin, Branch on November 24.

Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated the FGA for organizing such programme and up-liftment of economic and social activities in the area and also urged the people of other circles of the constituency to avail the opportunity.

On the next day, he inaugurating computer labs at Don-Bosco School, Palin and appreciated the contribution of Christian missionary for opening of computer lab and promoting education in the area. While responding to a memorandum submitted by the Institution, he assured to provide 300 +KV Transformer to the institution and later inspected Don Bosco Girls Hostel, Mother Teresa Group of Hostel and visited the Orphan Children. He also inspected the Jawahar Navodaya Kendriya Vidyalaya School, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya and newly constructed general ground at Old Palin.

In the last day, he inaugurated Triangular Sports Meets at Government Middle School Dui and assured to develop a general ground during his tenure as an MLA and also visited under construction PMGSY road from Bokam to Chambang.

State Information Commission wins RTI award

ITANAGAR, Nov 29: Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) has been selected for prestigious National RTI Award in recognition of its best and outstanding performance. The award carries a trophy, a citation and cash amount of Rs two lakh.

Arunachal Pradesh State Chief Information Commissioner Nyodek Yonggam and state information commissioners Bani Danggen, Habung Payeng, Nipo Nabam and Toko Anil are expected to receive the RTI Award-2009 from former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in a award giving ceremony to be held at New Delhi on Dec 1.

The National RTI Awards have been instituted by Public Cause Research Foundation (PCRF). The foundation was set up in December, 2006 by Magsaysay awardee Arvind Kejirwal, former journalist Manish Sisodia and TV producer and writer Abhinandan Sekhri to ensure that the society becomes more inclusive and that real power rests with the common people.

The jury including actor and film maker Aamir Khan, former Chief Election Commissioner J M Lyngdoh and NDTV chairman Dr Prannoy Roy, Editor and CEO of Dainik Jagram Group Sanjoy Gupta and Justice J S Verma selected the APIC after thorough examination for the prestigious award.

According to sources, APIC won the institutional award for Overall Public Satisfaction of 85 per cent in handling RTI. This is almost three times the national average of 26 per cent.

The RTI Act empowers Commissioners to order arrests of errant officials or use force to get information or documents from the government departments.

Barring Arunachal Pradesh, none of the Commissioners ever used any of these powers.

Promote the spirit of harmony and peace: DNGCSU

ITANAGAR, Nov 29:The Students’ Union of the Dera Natung Govt College, (DNGCSU) Itanagar has appeal the students and alumni of the college to stand united in order to promote the spirit of peace and harmony and build a conducive academic environment.

Describing the DNG college as Mini Arunachal where the students from all districts and all communities of the state are pursuing education and gathering knowledge, the college students’ union general secretary Nabam Tuna said, the shameful incidents of humiliating and damaging college properties on Nov 26 was neither justifiable nor appreciable by any sensible person. The union demanded arrest of the culprits of the shameful incidents and exemplary punishment to them.

The people from out side the college should not interfere in internal matter of the college, however, they are most welcome for the good and constructive cause, Tuna said.

The college provides opportunity to sons and daughters of all tribal communities to integrate, unite and exchange their rich cultural heritage in complete peace and harmony. It takes the prestigious pride of producing dynamic leaders, capable officers, traders and teachers who are contributing towards the development and growth of the state, he said and appealed the authorities concerned take immediate action and preventive measures when even a minor scuffle takes place between individuals in order to maintain peaceful academic atmosphere.

Let us contribute to the development of the institution wholeheartedly and cooperate with the authorities concerned in their right decision, Tuna said.

ANSU’s constitutional review meet held

ITANAGAR, Nov.29: The general body cum constitutional review meeting of All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) was recently held at Nyikum Niya Hall, Nirjuli. Student communities from various districts and intellectuals of Nyishi community participated in the meet. AAPSU president, Takam Tatung graced the occasion as chief guest. Tatung called upon all the students organisations to work together in the greater interest of the students community in particular and the state as a whole.

In a press release issued, ANSU condemned ‘cheap comments’ made by any political parties against the role of students organisations in Arunachal Pradesh. It reminded political parties that students bodies like AAPSU, ASU, AdiSU, GSU and many more has been actively working for the welfare of the student communities since NEFA days.

Further Union appealed all educated youth of state to be alert of political membership drive organized by political parties.

ANSU urged youth to concentrate in their respective field of education and refrain from political menace. Meanwhile it was informed that ANSU will conduct youth convention at Daporijo starting from 12th of January.

Ziro Govt. Higher Secondary School lifts Subroto Cup

ITANAGAR, Nov 29: Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Ziro beat GHSS, Daporijo in the final of U-17 State Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup football tournament, 4-1 (5-2) in penalty shotout at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun today.

The winner of the match had to be decided through penalty shotout after both the teams were locked 1-1 in regulation and extra time.

In the tiebreaker, Captain Ponio Tamo, Hage Mobing, Gyati Tatung and Rocky Ramching of GHSS Ziro netted their penalty kicks while the shots taken by Rohit Dui and T Jeke of Daporijo school missed the target. The lone goal for Daporijo team was scored by Tunsna.

Earlier, GHSS Ziro was leading the match 1-0 till the breather. Their gaol came from a fine header by Kime Tajing just before the lemon break. However, the lead shortlived as the Daporijo boys with their never-die-attitude equalized when Ruhit Dui netted a penalty kick just after the lemon break.

Earlier, Director of Higher and Technical Education Joram Begi, who was the chief guest, appreciated present director of school education (DSE) for reviving Subroto Cup after a long gap in the state.

He informed that Arunachal Pradesh has a good record in the history of Subroto Cup. RKM Aalo became runners up in 1986-87 and Donyi Polo Mission school reached upto quarterfinals in 1997-98, Begi said.

It is worth mentioning here that, this year’s national level tournament for Subroto Mukherjee Cup has already been held and, therefore, participation of the winning team GHSS, Ziro in the national level tournament this year does not arise.

According to organizing committee sources, delay in getting approval from the authorities concerned has hampered the state authority to conduct the tournament on time.

Today’s winning team would not be participating in the next year’s tournament at New Delhi, another source from the organizing committee told this reporter.

Further, no biometric tests of players were conducted, which is mandatory for age proof. Instead players were allowed to take part in the tournament based on the age/birth certificates for age proof, the sources added.

If the tournament was not qualifying event for the next year’s main tournament at New Delhi then what was the necessity of conducting it in odd time, many soccer enthusiasts have questioned.

Panggeng stress on reform in pisciculture

PASIGHAT, Nov 29: The Parliamentary Secretary, fisheries, law & justice J.K. Panggeng visited Pasighat and addressed at various places on 28th November last.

He visited the Govt. pisciculture firm and asked concerned officers & officials to bring reform in the existing pisciculture systems to inculcate more and more interest among the local farmers based on the latest technology. Panggeng also asked them for plant trees in the surrounding areas for beautification of the firm and to make it more attractive to the visitors.

On same day the Parliamentary Secretary also addressed the lawyers and magistrates at Siang Guest House on the Govt plans and programmes related to law & justice in the state like separation of Judiciary from executives etc.

Later Panggeng graced as Chief Guest on the valedictory function of 43rd College week of J.N. College, Pasighat organized at College auditorium. The Chief Guest advised the students to be appeared in their respective studies and asked them to complete their degree courses at any cost to ensure bright future. He also appealed the student community to take up social and moral responsibilities beside academic careers to eliminate the evil practices of the society and to take part in the good governance in the state in particular and the nation in general.

Governor visits Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy

ITANAGAR, Nov 29: I will be contented on the day, when our Arunachalee children excel in national and international arenas after availing benefits out of these sports facilities, said Arunachal Pradesh.

Governor Gen JJ Singh, who was on a surprised inspection of the upcoming sports facilities at Sangay Lhaden Sport Academy, Chimpu.

An ace sports enthusiast himself, the Governor went around the campus and gave some ideas and suggestions for making the campus suit for more sport activities.

Accompanied by Sport Secretary, D S Pandit and Director PR Mazumdar, he inspected the under construction rifle shooting range, archery range, golf driving course and swimming pools.

In a threadbare discussion with the sports officials, Gen Singh said, “we must construct our sports facility in such a way, that regional and national level tournaments can be conducted here in the future. It

should be the best, following prescribed procedures, tendering and most importantly maintaining the high standard of quality. He also stressed on maximum use of the land in the campus for sports activities and on expediting of all the construction works.

Interaction with the students, the Governor, who had initiated a river rafting programme for the student of the School on July 29 last, which was organized by the Tourism department with logistic support from the Army, exhorted them to be sincere and dedicated in their approach and to do their best in the specialized sport that they have chosen along with their regular studies. He also met and congratulated some of the students, who had brought laurels for the State in different sports.

Principal of Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy, Pubi Lombi informed at present there are 96 (Ninety-six) boarders, which include 34 girls.

Started on 16th March 2001, the School aims in building up a young generation with a sound mind and strong physique. Phassang Tafar memorial volleyball tourney begins

ITANAGAR, Nov 29: The 2nd Phassang Tafar Memorial Volleyball Tournament organized by Banderdewa Karsingsa Youth Welfare Association began on November 27 last.

The opening ceremony was attended by APYC vice president cum former ZPM Nabam Vivek and senior public leader Yura Tugung as chief guest and guest of honour respectfully. The closing ceremony would be attended by Papum Pare DCC president cum former ZPM Nabam Rana as chief guest and Doimukh BCC president cum ASM Tana Tahing as guest of honour on Dec 3.

Assam Rifles organizes volleyball tourney

CHANGLANG, Nov 29: A district level volleyball championship was organized by 25 Assam Rifles a part of DAH division from November 26 to 28 to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the Assam Rifles and 25 years of raising of 25 Assam Rifles.

Initially the league matches took place in respective areas of company posts of 25 AR. The two best teams from each area were called to Changlang for playing semifinals. 12 such teams participated in semifinals conducted at General Ground, Changlang on November 26 and 27.

The final match was played yesterday between the teams of Manmao and Janmaisung Villages.

Phossum Khimun, MLA Changlang (S) and Parliamentary secretary ( Geology & Mines), attended the occasion as the chief guest and also distributed prizes and trophies to the winners on behalf of 25 AR.

He lauded the efforts of Assam Rifles in inculcating the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among the youth of the district. Extending his own support to the noble cause, he presented one set of volleyball net and ball to each participating team on the spot. The civil administration also pitched in their support with Changlang SP, Kime Aya announcing a cash award of Rs. 1000 to each team in finals.

The locals have lauded the efforts of Assam Rifles for organizing such a competition which has not only given an exposure to local sportsmen but also rekindled a spirit of sportsmanship in this troubled region. DIPRO

Orientation workshop on rights of the child

ITANAGAR, Nov 29: The Indian Council of Child Welfare-- Arunachal Pradesh (ICCW-AP) is contributing to the causes of the children in the state since mid 2008. Today a total of 35 creche centres are being run by NGOs in the state under the ICCW-Creche committee of Arunachal Pradesh. Recently the committee has also conducted trainings for its creche workers in two batches.

With a motto to bring the child rights to centre stage in Arunachal, the ICCW-AP is going to conduct an orientation workshop on the Rights of the Child at Itanagar on Dec 10 next.

The members of the Juvenile Justice Boards, the Child Welfare Committees, Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women, Arunachal Bar Association, State Legal Services Authority, the Panchayats, Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society, National Alliance of Women, the Human Rights Law Network, Arunachal Citizens Rights, Police department and students and media persons are expected to take part in the workshop.
